Free High Definition Camera Training for Women
COURSE DESCRIPTION
A two-day hands-on programme on shooting observational documentary using the new HDV format.
Topics will include:
Basic documentary styles and techniques, hand-held shooting, how to shoot in sequences, framing, composition, camera controls and basic sound techniques.
The course is highly practical, including how to conduct an interview, the use of cutaways and how and when to use the camera.
There will also be practical team exercises. Each participant will undertake the various roles of camera person, director and sound person during the course of the weekend.
Lunch will be provided on both days.
16 participants maximum.
AIM
The aim is to furnish participants with the technical skills and theoretical knowledge that will enable them to make films on their own using the new Sony Z1 High Definition Video camera.
This course is open to any woman with an interest in documentary living or working in the South East region of England, FROM THE FOLLOWING COUNTIES ONLY Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Isle of Wight, Kent, Oxfordshire, Surrey, East and West Sussex.
APPLICATION DEADLINE EXTENDED TO 5.00 PM AUGUST 15th 2005.
There is a £25 deposit but you get it back after you have done the course.

Bit sexist isn't it? How do women get away with these 'women only' events? Try having a 'men only' freebie and you'll get reported to the EOC.

I think its to do with getting more women in to behind the camera roles, after all how many women directors can you name off the top of your head compared with men?
Anyway, it no worse than the 'monthly things' freebies, im sure if you wanted them you could apply just as if you argued to the organiser you could probley go on this. Of course you would probley be the only male and everyone else would think you a bit strange.......
I dont think that its fair that the country of Essex isn't included as its in the SE but hey, life moves onI remember when this was just a little website! :money:0
