What Tyre??????

Hi,

I have a VW Sharan people carrier that is ready for 4 new tyres. In the past on my previous cars I have just gone with the cheepest budget's I can find but this car is usually full of kids so I want to do the right thing and get the safest tyres I can.

I have just had a quote from the QuickFit site for approx 360... ouch.

Please can someone recomend a good safe and cost effective tyre thats not going to cost me the earth!

My tyre size is 215/55 R16 95H

Thanks in advance.

Kate.

I use Kumho tyres for my Alhambra, they cost about £55 but they are only 15" wheels. From memory the 16" tyres should have the re-inforced side walls, I don't know if Kumho do a suitable tyre for your car, buts it worth checking out.

I've been using Kumho for a few years & find them to be as good as Michelins that I had on previously. Don't be too put off if you haven't heard of them, they have been the control tyre for the British Formula 3 & Tarmac Rally series' for the last couple of years.
  • Continental Contisports have always done me well in all manner of weathers.

Never buy Pirelli P6000s whatever anyone says.
  • Thaks everyone. I went with Blackcircles and ordered 4 x Dunlop SP Sport 2020E, I used the RRAF discount code and got £15 off the order, £345 in total including valve balancing and fitting.

Not too cheap but I think good value for money.

  • Hi,

I've just used e-tyres. They are really cheap and thy come to you. They are a mobile fitting team. I saved over 30% compared to Kwik-Fit. They are about 10-15% cheaper than Black Circle. They also detail the tyres to help you choose. I hope this helps.

I don't know why Pirelli bother making tyres. After 6 months they usually end up going out of shape...

    Hi

I am just about to renew all 4 tyres and have spent today searching for the cheapest price for Pirelli p6000's 185/55H15.

Can I ask why not Pirelli?

I could do with saving money so if anyone can give me advice on cheaper makes too that would be much appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

My dad had these tyres on his car...absolutely hated them... they make a hell of a lot of road noise!

My problem is I have never tried anything else so I don't have a clue but when I think on it, yes they are noisy.

    Thank you
