TV Licence hell, threats from court help?

Hi all

don't know what to do, had a nasty letter this morning from south wales area HMCS, i rang as the letter just stated pay your fine otherwise were taking your car  so i rang the horrible woman, i spoke to started shouting that i had to pay a £150 find from last year, when an officer called, which they did, but after speaking to the officer they had made a mistake, but i siagned the form due to the officer telling me to. How wrong was i, i have this fine for not having a tvlicence, but i did, well the DD was still set up in my account, and i have been covered since dec last year. Another thing there was a court case on 7th Jan 08 in Merthyr:eek: , it's the first i heard of from this swine i just spoke to? can someone advise, as TV licencing told me its nothing to do with them,

If the dd was set up, then surely that is proof that you had one...it's everything to do with them, it's their error.

When a TVL agent asks you to sign a form, they are conning you into signing a confession that you are watching TV without a licence. This then gets presented as evidence at the court and you are found guilty (because you confessed). HMCS are now after the fine you were probably given.

If you had a TV licence, you need to get the court decision reversed. See if you can get any documentation about your court case of the 7th (case number, etc. etc.). The clerk at Merthyr court should be able to help you with this. Get some expert legal advice about what to do next. If you don't have a solicitor, you can try the Citizen's Advice Bureau, or maybe your house insurance policy has a legal cover element you could use?

and i have been covered since dec last year.

But that's just 4 months ago? And the fine relates to a period prior to that. If you have the licence for the period in question ... show it them. If not. you've got a fairly urgent problem.
