Crumpet Rings

I've decided to challenge myself to make something new each month.

Until the lodgers go, it's going to be stuff not to do with dinner as I cook it for them, so I'm limiting myself to breakfast stuff at the moment.

Where can I get crumpet rings from? Or what else can I use? I don't have anything like cookie cutters or anything like that.

I do have a fried egg heart shaped ring somewhere. Can I make heart shaped ones using that?

  • You can use the heart shaped one - how romantic!

I once bought some 4-ring tins of pineapple slices (rather than the 8-slice ones that I usually use). My opener takes the top off smooth to the inner surface, IYSWIM, so I made crumpet rings that way.

Thanks for that. I do actually have two tins of pineapple slices in the cupboard. Might get bf to eat them and try your tip. I bought them to make homemade pizzas, but then decided the lodgers didn't deserve my homemade pizza, so was going to save them for when they moved out. Evil, aren't I?

Think my crumpets would take forever to make with one heart shaped egg ring :o

I hope you've got the right tool for making all those holes in the crumpets - thats the time consuming bit, I find! ;)

If you want to cut the tin into crumpet rings, fill it with water and freeze it, it makes it easier to cut.
