Bought some stuff from Homebase today, including a black & decker mouse sander. I was asked if I wanted the optional 3year replacement cover for the sander and said no before the operator could finish the sentence 
HOWEVER, she went on to explain that if I spent £5.99 on the 3 year replacement cover I would actually get 20% off my entire purchases. So, because I had bought some paint and a few other bits and peices I actualy saved about £7 overall by taking out the 3year cover.
