Debit cards.

Hi All

I hope I've posted in the right place, obviously I'm new to this so here goes.

I made a small purchase on my debit card (online) at the beginning of Feb, and the company still hasn't taken the money out of my account yet.(I have received the goods) I was just wondering if there is any time limit for processing card transactions. I'd hate to forget about it and then be liable for bank charges.

Thanks in advance,
R

    Hi Rozzer101,

    Welcome to MSE.

The company can claim the payment for up to six years, so it may be worth giving them a call to get them to take the payment x
    Gone ... or have I?
  • Wow six years! I'm surprised by that. (it was only a purchase for 82p lol)

    Welcome to MSE !

I would be very careful about using a debit card online, or in fact anywhere.

If your debit card details are mis-appropriated it's your money they are using. If you use a credit card it isn't your money - and if the transaction is over £100 you are covered by Sect 75 of the Consumer Credit Act.

I really hope you can't incur bank charges because you give your card details to a company and they forget to charge it.

If my bank charged for that I'd close my account and move my 23.76 to another bank!
