2x mortgage accounts?

Hi,
My fixed period is coming to an end shortly and the svr will be quite high.
Looking to get a better deal but my existing mortgage requies me to pay £1000 fees back unless I stay there for 6 more months.
The question is, is if I were to remortgage and pay of the existing one, less say, £50 to keep that account for a further 6 months, would this save me having to pay that £1000?
Any thoughts?
Thanks all...

Unfortunately that won't work because the lender will want it redeemed in full.0
