we have a slimline SMEG DW for family of 5, a supposedly posh make but not impressed, it's not yet 3 years old handle has fallen off, ditto top spinny-thing.

hope your Indesit lasts for a very long time.

Not sure that the brand name makes a lot of difference, the appliances are often made by same company at source just have badges, and different styling added thereafter.

I remember someone on here saying they were running a cheapie BEKO and that it was far better than their previous Bosch. I really think it depends on the actual machine whoever has made it.

I bought a cheapy Beko dishwasher last year (£160 for a slimline version), and I've needed 2 replacement baskets as they are so flimsy they just melt! I've got a man coming out today to fix the programmer as it's gone up the creak after partners daughter tried to turn the programmer backwards. When I spoke to the repair people (who repair a whole range of dishwashers) the girl on the end of the phone told me that they had just had a big order of Beko parts arrive. I commented that if they are getting a big order of Beko parts does that mean that Beko's break down a lot? She simply said "Let's put it this way, people only ever buy 1 Beko product".

On saying that the washing quality seems OK though.

Thanks for that Jet. Definitely something to keep in mind for the future!

I know someone who runs a BEKO fridge with no problems as yet. I think the thing is with dishwashers is that they do get a lot of use and as you said there are quite a lot of parts involved, which would not be so with a fridge.

just want to add that since reading this thread everytime I've run my dishwasher I've clicked on an option not to run the drying cycle - now I wonder why I ever ran it in the first place! The heat left in the machine (as long as I leave the door shut) dries them just as well as the drying cycle!
Dread to think how much electric I've wasted over the past 16 months
