£5 a week Subscription - The Times

Hi to you all, I don't often post but been a member for a while. If this is in the wrong section of the forum please move.
I've just received my subscription renewal for The Times and they're saying I can have a "fantastic offer" of £5 per week. But the other times I subscribed it's only been £4.50 a week.
Has anyone else had the £5 offer or any better offer? I don't really want to renew at £5 a week.
Should I ring them and say "Can you do better" or just leave the subscription to lapse and see if they ask me back in the future?
Would be interested to hear peoples real life experiences.
Thanks for your time and help, in advance.

I am currently getting it for £3 a week, up from £2.50 at last renewal.
When I queried the rise then they told me that it was policy for it to go up progressively at each 24 week renewal but that if I did a 48 week renewal then I could have it at 33 for the 48 weeks (instead of £3 for the first 24 and then £3.50 or £4 for the next 24)
previously I was in your situation and they would not budge - had to let it lapse for around 15 months before I got offered the £2.50 renewal
good luck!0 -

I had that a while ago, wouldnt budge, but it may be worth a try, you have nothing to lose.
I recently had the Telegraph for £2.50 a week, payable monthly DD rather than all at once. I cancelled that and a little while later they asked me if i want it at the same price. I said no and i was told if i wanted to have it anytime in the future at the same price to give them a ring. Wish i went ahead with it again now as i didnt keep the number.0 -
Where do you call to subscribe? And any idea how it works to deliver to a gated, locked building? In the States, the newspaper man just had a key from the apartment complex, but I really doubt ours here does that as I've never seen a newspaper on anyone's doorstep!0

you get vouchers that you exchange at the newsagent - you don;t get delivery thrown in with the subscription0

The Daily Telegraph costs £6.50 per month paid by direct debit and thats including the sunday telegraph. The phone number is 0800 33 20 20
You get a book of vouchers to exchange at any newsagents or you can leave the vouchers with the newsagent and pay extra for delivery.0 -
Interested in the Times deal as a newbie.
Never subbed a newspaper before.
What's the best way to contact them and how do I get the cheapest price. Does it start at £3 for newbies and progressively go up?0 -
I started at £32 a quarter last year and it's just gone up to £10 a month.0

We're currently on £2 a week which is a steal as we normally buy the Sunday Times anyway (and that's £2 already). We were new subscribers and signed up last year and because we paid via direct debit, I think we got a further discount - can't remember how much though.
Must admit that we had to jump through hoops to get this deal though. I had called them up several times before, trying to get a good price. Almost made it through once for a £2.50/week deal (i.e. details were taken) but at the last moment, was rejected as I didn't have the promotional code.
When I called up last year, they had my details as a 'previous subscriber'; I mentioned £2.50/week but they said the computer was offering me a £2/week deal! Even better!0 -
Read it online, a lot faster & cheaper.0

I'm interested but don't know where to find this offer?0
