Where should I look for jobs

Right guys, I have seemingly been looking for jobs for ages and apart from 2 interviews, have not really found many I like. Now that may be because I am fussy or my skills are lacking, or I live in a rubbish place, but it may also be because i'm looking in the wrong place.
Anyone got any advice where I should be looking?
I am currently using:
https://www.reed.co.uk (recommended by a friend but nothing yet)
The Guardian Newspaper (Wednesday and Saturday)
Job Centre Plus (majority of jobs too low paid and not the level i'm looking for)
The big local newspaper (Wednesday job section)
Monster.co.uk (occasionally but rubbish site)
Any where obvious i've been missing?
Finally, anyone know which sector of job section is in the Guardian on each day?
And does the Times or Telegraph have jobs sections and on what days?
Thanks

I found totaljobs.com the other day, there is plenty of work in my local area, but nothing that suits me! A lot of companies tend to post the same job daily so it can be repetetive (sp)0

Sector press?
I work in fashion and my first stop every morning after checking my emails is drapersonline.com/jobs. (OK, after rightmove)
is there anything like this for your sector?0 -
Thanks both,
To be honest Phirefly, I don't think I have a sector which like I said might be the problem.
I have generalist management experience / project, budget and line management experience, some facilities and Opps Management, but nothing enough to say "thats my sector".
I just look for ANY jobs in my area and pick the ones I like the sound of and read further to see if I have the skills required.0 -
Why not walk up and down your local industrial estates and business parks doing door knocking? I've done that before in the past.0

Hi Morpheus
Over the years I've used loads of jobsites... the ones that spring to mind are:
http://www.cv-library.co.uk/
http://www.workthing.co.uk/
http://www.fish4.co.uk/iad/jobs
http://www.planetrecruit.co.uk/
http://www.totaljobs.com/
http://www.topjobs.net/
http://www.monster.co.uk/
PLUS sites linked to your local newspaper and councils – councils are usually [name of council].gov.uk
Other than that I have put in a name of a type of job into Google (UK pages only!) and been quite surprised – in a good way! LOL! – at the various sites that come up.
Based on the info you gave earlier, having put "management jobs" into Google, a number of recruitment consultants specialising in this area come up like the one below...
http://www.executivesontheweb.com/
Hope some of the above is of use.

fish4jobs and total jobs seems good..

i went to reed and registered for temp work, got a job within 2 days and here now, going for the permanent position aswell. not a job i would have applied for normally, and to be honest they seem to like to get to know you before they take you on, so being a temp first puts you in a good position.
good luck, i'm fussy too.. and find it hard to find things i like..

Missed the bit about papers earlier.
Guardian:
With the Guardian, I know for certain that Mondays are creative, marketing media jobs (my sector!). Tuesdays MAY be education, and Thursdays (I think) are social care...
I believe that if you get the paper ANY day, it will list the days and their job sectors. Failing that, Saturday's jobs section collects together all the jobs that were advertised during the week as well as any new ones that missed the week day deadlines, and that should definitely tell you the days and job sectors.

hi morph3us
in the same boat but looking to change direction.
Have you signed up for the job emails from the Guardian etc?
I checked loads of categories when I set it up so they send tons of stuff.
I got made redundant from one of the biggest banks on the planet in a service desk role
But now looking to move into public sector admin for some job security.
I've signed with Reed, Monster, Guardian and Totaljobs, local Police, education authorities etc trouble so far is either salary too low or no relevant experience.
Good luck, chin up and stay positive fella0 -
Most jobs aren't advertised so you have to be more proactive in seeking them out. Also, if you are looking at the major newspapers, then there is so much more competition than there would be elsewhere.
Either look on-line or get a Thomson's directory and research all the companies in your area you'd like to work for.
Make sure your CV is up to date, and write targetted letters to these companies (if possible, address the letter to the right person - call up the reception and try to get the number). Make sure letters and CVs really exhibit your strengths.
Follow the letter up with a call.
Treat job hunting like a real work project - be very disciplined.
Conor's strategy works - takes a lot of balls but I know lots of people who have been able to get work this way. It will get a job, but maybe not the right job. However, that first job could open doors to other opportunities.
Good luck!0
