Please Help Im Confused About Ppi

Hi ive already posted this once so sorry if you see it twice but i cant find the first thread ... anyway

Advice on the following if possible

1. MPPI - contacted A&L Mortgage following steps for PPI reclaim, requested they send details, but they didnt send all info.. there was no mention of PPI in the literature they sent me.. however I know i was paying it because i cancelled the DD i have been paying for approx 3 years. I cancelled my DD to find out what is was then had a letter stating i had cancelled my DD for insurance ect.. however i then phoned them and stated that I had on two occassions been off work on long term sick leave and didnt realise i could claim, they said it was now too late because the contract was cancelled because i stopped DD. Can I reclaim anything from them? I was informed I had to have this when I took out my mortgage although it wasnt explained what it was or anything, so i wasnt actually sure what i was paying for...

2. PPI - HP purchase for double glazing, PPI was put on the application without me reaslising, I did phone to cancel once i received all the paperwork but was told I couldnt cancel it. It was on the whole of the loan. my £5000 loan was over 10 years (i was really done) and it included paying PPI over that period. After 4/5 years of paying £100 + variable per month I managed to get a loan to repay the full outstanding balance of £5000 can I reclaim? I have wrote to the double glazing company 3 times and have had no reply, I have wrote to the HP company 'FIRST PLUS' but they have told me my issue is with the sales team from the window company. can anyone give me some basic advice please?

I have a couple of others but if i could just get these sorted it would be a blessing.. more so the windows because they really did stitch me up!
