Can you use money-off vouchers in Tesco even if you're not buying the product, like you can in Asda and Sainsbury's?

I have done, dont know if its just luck of the draw who you get at tills tho!!
My mother tried it in morrisons and they wouldnt allow it at all.
Is there a list anywhere of the various supermarkets takes on this??? can decide then where to shop!!0 -
asda tesco and waitrose (should) take the coupon for a product if you have not purchased it, as long as they stock the product
Just depends on what old battle axe you get on the day, remember you are in the right, they just dont know you are
I didnt think sainsburys allowed it0 -

Sainsburys definitely do not allow it, officially.
But.....their tills don't reject coupons, even those from their own magazine, if you don't buy the product. So I have to say I usually offer a couple with my Nectar card and if knocked back I say 'oh, sorry, thought you had the same policy as Tesco, Asda & Waitrose, my mistake, I don't shop here that often as I can make more savings in other stores that do take coupons!'
In Tesco, Asda and Waitrose at least there's nothing underhand about offering some coupons like this, as long as you know what the maximum is in your particular store. Some lovely stores allow any amount of coupons off as long as they are all different, all in date, not book tokens and not store-specific to any Supermarket.
If you don't know your store's maximum, ask a friendly-looking CS person or Till Supervisor (and don't accept the first answer if it's clearly rubbish, stay polite and ask them to check as you 'know' their HO policy is to allow some, you just wanted to know how many? I have been told you 'have to buy the product' before by CS who haven't a clue that their employer does indeed allow coupons without buying the product. They were amazed when I asked them to check and they learnt it's OK!).PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Yes, their tills will allow it and if the staff know no better you can get away with it (short-term). You're sailing close to the wind though, if a Supervisor was called you would have some explaining to do I fear!
But best to use them in one of the only 3 stores where you are not 'getting away with' anything, where their HO policy allows coupon-use of this type. That doesn't include Sainsburys.PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
