Buy clothes from America

I'm looking for American sites that ship clothes to the UK at decent rates. Their stuff seems to be mostly cheaper and they have a multitude of sizes and styles that can't be matched on UK websites.

Thanks for any help. I see a lot of good deals on eBay.com but their authenticity is hard to be sure of, so I'd prefer a website with a good reputation of delivering high quality, authentic goods, which good customer service if possible.

By the way, is it one or two sizes less I should be buying when buying American clothing?

Most male sized are the same as here. Waist and chest anyway for sure. Womens are marked smaller than here. Shoe sizes are a nightmare as mens are about 1 to 2 sizes less and womens 2-3. Go for the Euro size, they are more consistently the same.

I always buy mine when I go there and get enough for a year... I can always find loads of bargains in shops like ROSS and TJ maxx, even charity shops have great stuff.

Remember you may get stung for customs and duty when buying from the States. Remember to factor that into the price.

For childrens clothes https://www.gymboree.com is good- especially as they do excellent discounts in their regular sales. The quality is also brilliant and all clothes are so unlike the stuff over here which can get really boring after a while!

ps Customs seems to be a bit hit and miss I've never had to pay so far even on orders of $300 + but maybe this is because it's childrens clothing not adult? don't know how it works. But pin is quite right you need to consider it otherwise murphys law says if you don't expect to pay it you'll end up having to :)
  • Does anyone have any websites then?

I think you're right, childrens clothes are not VATable. One upon a time every parcel I ordered from the States/Canada slipped through without me having to pay VAT. Then all of a sudden (I think when the Royal Mail was privatised) EVERY SINGLE PARCEL got stopped. Not only did I have to pay the VAT, but £8+ handling charge as well:eek:

I think that VAT only applied to parcels over £18 worth. But you normally have to spend over this to make the shipping worthwhile :(

Sorry, all the sites I've found have £20 approx shipping on them. So I save up and do a cheap trip to the USA every now and again. We went to NY one January. Man those sales were good, In Macy's I got 3 pairs of branded shoes for $8!!!!

Threadless is great for fun T-shirts, the stock goes out-of-print quite quickly (so can be quite exclusive) and there are new designs every month.
My 18-year-old loves Atticus clothing and I usually buy from the US site as it is half the price of the UK one. Postage is reasonable, too. Atticus.com
