Help - remortgage due soon & poor credit history

Hope somebody can help.
Have 110K mortgage on 190K house but NR fixed rate ends next month.
Need to borrow 4x income but have single bad mark on credit file - I know I checked after watching Martin on TV.
Missed 1 mortgage payment when bank cancelled direct debit without me knowing & didn't tell me for 6 months. They would admit mistake just that it seemed a bit strange I would do such a thing.
They did start it again the next month so was only ever 1 month behind for that 6 months. It was about 2 years ago now.
Does anyone know a bank that might not refuse me or if this will be held against me now.

Wouldn't have thought you would have too much trouble anywhere.0

What do you mean you checked?
You have a credit report that shows a missed payment from two years ago on it?0 -
Are you still behind one payment or are you now up to date?0

Whilst some lenders may well turn up their nose at this application (due to the 1 months arrears for 6 months), other will take it on at mainstream rates due to the explanation given.
Do you have a letter from the bank confirming their mistake?
Just curious, did the lender not write to you advsing you had missed a payment?I am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it. I've been upto date for just over 2 years.
The bank wouldn't admit they cancelled my direct debit & didn't tell me for 6 months.
Unbelievably they cancelled it when I made a limp sum payment 2 days before the direct debit was due. And restarted my direct debit when they recalculated 3 weeks later. In the middle a payment was missed.
But my credit reports all have that I was 1 month behind for 6 months.
I dealt with it all over the phone & have nothing in writing.0 -
try your current lender - see what they say.
My current lender would consider my joint application with a partner with a ccj (under a certain amount so they would ignore it - but that was last year when they said this!)
A good broker will be able to help you find a good deal.
Best of luck!

I doubt you will have much joy from NR getting a good deal - so best bet will be have a word with a fee free whole of market adviser and let them see what mainstream deals they can find youI am a Mortgage AdviserYou should note that this site doesn't check my status as a Mortgage Adviser, so you need to take my word for it.
