Hi guys,
I've just spotted this deal from First Direct; any new customers successfully applying for its credit card will get 6 bottles of wine
http://www.firstdirect.com/creditcards/
I wanted to give you guys a heads up as it is probably going in the weekly email, meaning demand for it could be huge! So far I havent spotted any real drawbacks; no spend or other transaction is required to get the wine and the card has no annual fee.
If anyone spots any potential tripwires it'd be fantastic if you couldf post below and we can check it out.
Cheers, and enjoy the wine!
Dan

I hope its better than the Smile Refer a Scheme free wine offer. It took me and my brother 5 months to get the wine out of thema and I am still waiting several months later for another friend.
And they also changed the way the used to do it. What they now give you is £50 credit at Virgin Wines. You have to search through the site to find 6 of the cheapest bottles to make up a case (previously they offered you either a case of selected Smile wine or £50 credit)
*UPDATE* Just read the small print. You MUST open a First Direct 1st Account before you can apply for their Credit Card. A 1st account costs £10 a month unless you pay at least £1500 a month into it or keep an average of £1500 a month in it.
Unfortunately I think its too much hassle to get 6 bottles of wine.0 -
Pretty sure you don't have to pay the £10/month if you have another account though (like a credit card or savings acc)...0

This works for me, and FD are excellent.0 -
Its still a pain to have to open a current account just to get a credit card just to get 6 bottles of wine!
Im just closing my Smile account and opening with Coventry as their interest rate is over 6% for a current account.0 -
The first direct website says about the curent accountpolarbearit wrote: »Pretty sure you don't have to pay the £10/month if you have another account though (like a credit card or savings acc)...
banking with first direct usually costs £10 a month, but it's free when you pay in at least £1,500 to your 1st Account each month, hold a selected first direct additional product, or maintain an average monthly 1st Account balance of £1,500
But it doesn't make clear what a selected first direct additional product is.
Would putting £1 into a savings account qualify?
I agree with arealhighlander, this is too much hassle just to get 6 bottles of wine0 -
I have just opened a FD account who were offering a free £100 if you pay at leas £1500 in per month. After six months, if you are unhappy with their service, they will assist you in transferring to another account and give you another free £100.What larks eh Pip?0

This offer is actually better than I thought at first glance. If you have a First Direct bank account with them you can get 6 free bottles of wine and a FEE FREE balance transfer (providing it is over £500 and within 2 months of opening card) at a rate of 2.9% APR for 6 months. Very pleased I was accepted :j as this with save me £££ on a balance transfer fee and so far I have been very impressed with First Direct.
Thanks MSE.com!!0 -
In order to qualify for the wine must also have a first direct acco!!!!!!!! not so good:mad:0
