Clearstep invisible braces

Hi everyone (and toothsmith if you're there!)

I saw mentioned on another thread about Clearstep tooth straightening. Has anyone had this done? I have a few questions:

How long will it take? I have been prompted to take action as I am getting married at the end of the year and although from the front my teeth look quite straight from the side they look really uneven. If I started it asap would it make much difference by December? I am happy to continue for longer, I would just like some difference by then.
How much does it cost? I would pay a premium for the invisibility as I work facing customers.
Are the effects lasting? I had a metal brace as a teenager that improved my teeth a bit but I don't think it was kept on long enough. I would be willing to wear a retainer if it keeps my teeth nice.

Thanks very much!

I'm not an orthodontist, so I can't answer most of your questions very accurately.

Have a word with your own dentist (I would make a special appointment as time is of the essence here) about a referral to an orthodontist who does this system, or maybe Invisalign (I'm sure they must be similar).

Retention is vital after orthodontics (The period you wear a retainer or have a brace on ATER the treatment has finished.) The bone has to mature with the teeth in the new position. If it isn't given a good 6 months then the teeth can move back again. Even if given this long, there is some potential to relapse if the new straight position isn't stable.

How long it takes and how much it costs is all dependent on how far things are out, and what system you choose to straighten them. These are questions only an orthodontist can answer once he's seen you.

    Good luck.
    How to find a dentist.
    1. Get recommendations from friends/family/neighbours/etc.
    2. Once you have a short-list, VISIT the practices - dont just phone. Go on the pretext of getting a Practice Leaflet.
    3. Assess the helpfulness of the staff and the level of the facilities.
    4. Only book initial appointment when you find a place you are happy with.

    Thanks Toothsmith,

I have been given recommendations by a friend who has a fixed brace at the moment and a relative who has recently had some orthodontic work done so I will carry out investigations into the two.

Just wanted to make sure I wasn't wasting my time and my money!

    Many thanks again

  • I definitely recommend Invisalign braces, i have had mine for 5 months now and they are nearly done (have to wear a retainer after) £2400 with 6 months treatment time when i was told it would be 2-3 years for fixed braces. I am really happy with the way my teeth are looking and the braces themselves are so easy to wear/live with.

Wand55 I know you posted back in March but if your still online and checking I would be interested to know whether you had invisible braces on both upper and lower teeth or just one of them as I am having this done and I'm at the diagnosis stage and I know I will have both upper and lower done so trying gauge a rough price, I was estimating around £5000.
