Psychometric Tests

My bf has gotten through to this stage of becoming a train driver. He has been given examples of what he will have to do, but there weren't very many.

I'm having difficulty finding more examples so that he can practice like mad for them.

I have tried making some up myself, but the ones I am having trouble with are the ones where there are long paragraphs of mechanical paragraphs and then he gets asked multiple choice questions on them.

Just wondered if anyone could either point me in the right direction for ready made questions and paragraphs, or where I can find mechanical technical paragraphs that I can try and make my own questions from?

Do you know what test battery is being used?

SHL let you try some sample tests here http://www.shl.com/SHL/en-int/Products/test-trialling.aspx

But I think they might only be the numeracy and literacy tests. It sounds as if your BF might be looking at a technical test battery? This link will describe the tests but don't think it gives any samples.

These tests are specially designed to measure ability and if it's any consolation, practice doesn't help improve the marks.

Wish him good luck from me.

    Thanks for that.

We do have some sample questions that are:-

    Following instructions test
    Understanding information test
    Error identification test
    Concentration test

I have made up my own questions for error identification and I found some concentration test programmes on the net.

I know it is a case of testing ability and you can't learn to do them, but it's the speed thing that bothers bf. The tests have to be done unbelievably quick. I know he can do them cos he's not stupid, but he does have slight dyslexia which slows him down a bit. He hasn't got any proof of this though as he was tested as a child.

He just wants tests to practice on, so he's not so nervous I guess. I'm going to have a look at your links and show him. I think it's a case of keeping his brain active until he has to take these tests. :D
