Strewth, aren't these gimmicks gown to a £10-£20 yet??

I know they are (supposedly) energy saving, but they've got to get down to the price of a kettle or people aren't going to buy them.

Another problem is that people won't wait until their kettle breaks before they buy one - so no 'saving the planet there' - just one extra unnecessary gadget that added to climate change and depletion of natural resources by being made. Why don't Tefal make them from 100% (or ANY %) recycled materials???

Just fill your kettle to the 'minimum' mark and save yourself £59.99 :money: and save the environment from another piece of junk!

You can get a kettle that will boil one mug of water from Tesco for £5 :money: when your current kettle breaks!

  • These are a great idea and I got one. Unfortunately, my experience is that it doesn't work very well. It doesn't boil to 100c and it splutters and sparks hot water everywhere. Look around these boards and Amazon for more reviews to see what others think.
Me? I got a refund. I still like the idea though and I'm waiting for an improved model. HTH
  • Before you buy one of these check out some of the reviews. It either sputters everywhere or the water is too cold. I was about to buy one, but after reading so many negative reviews I decided to give it a body swerve.

    Cheers
    Simon
  • ihave one and i love it yes the waters not really hotbut ts drinking hot , id normally have to wait to drin my coffee but dont no , it doesnt spatter everywhere if yu baance your cup on something , if you make cups for yoursef then theses are worth it x
  • We got one as a Christmas present and was returned back to the store probably the day after Boxing Day. The water isnt hot, it does state on the box that it does not get to boiling point. It takes to long to fill a cup(splutters water) well, it does if you have big cups like ours, then by the time the tea bag has worked and you've added milk, its luke warm.
I also remember the words of my friends, but I would rather have enemies than friends like you :p

:p would like to make it known that ZubeZubes avvy is a DHN, she's not dancing :o
  • Typical Tefal gimmick/joke item.

New plate kettles will boil only 1 mug too.
    However they work.

There was a review of this in the Times a couple weeks ago (as well as some other eco friendly kettle) and it got absolutely panned. Doesn't get hot enough to make tea/coffee properly and takes longer than it should. Their conclusion was, if you want to save energy, just use a normal kettle but measure out exactly the amount of water you need. Most of the energy wasted is people filling their kettle to the top when they only need 1-2 cups.

ohhhh the quick cup rules my tea word... fantastic gadget!! soo quick and easy and looks the part on your worktop too... also you can have cold filtered water at the press of a button if you wish.

as for the "it dosent boil the water" comments, the water that comes out very very hot and makes a perfect cuppa! and i am picky when it comes to tea ;)
dare you to pour a cup, and place your finger in it for a few seconds ;) :rotfl:

also re: the "running costs" the filters can be bought from ebay and they are very cheep, we had a kettle previous that used filters anyway, so no extra spend for us, also you can run it with out the filter if you wish.

if you have a costco card, they are doing them for £35 plus the VAT, also argos had them on offer around xmas time, not sure now tho, also ebay is worth a look for new items.

Bought one from Costco a few months ago, but returned it because it does not do justice to tea, which really needs almost boiling water to release the full flavour.
