Equita - Chasing PCN Debt

Hi,My wife was issued with a PCN. We wrote to the Local Authority advising that she was not the driver at the time. the next thing that happens is that we had a notice from Equita telling us that they were now chasing her for a debt.I contacted the local Authority and they said that all the letters were sent to us (none of which we received) I then applied to the HMCS for an Out of Time (I think it's called) statement. I've not had a reply but Equita are saying that the court has ruled against us and they are coming round in 48 hours. What can I do? They say the debt is now over £700!! Do they legally have to notify us of any charges they will levy? Are there set charges that they can make or is it just something that falls out of their heads.I am desperate for some assistance and anything you can suggest will be greatly appreciated.thanks

you need to go to the pepipoo and Consumer action group websites and post on their parking charges forums where you will get excellent advice.
