Boil rice for a few minutes in saucepan--fit lid on tight & wrap in towel & then in duvet or blankets for a couple of hours. Perfect rice with no chance of burning & little fuel used. Also works with pasta & finishing off stews etc.

Make sure saucepan is wrapped in towel first if using any nylon based materials.

  • Great suggestions thanks

Has anyone tried a savoury rice pudding (suppose this would be a bit like rissotto?) in the slow cooker?

I have only ever seen rice pudding mentioned on here but i wondered is it possible to do say a paella or some sort of risotto, i wondered because you have to do a lot of very gentle simmering etc...

Sorry if this is a complete no no and my apologies for being a bit thick! i realise you would need to keep an eye on it etc but is it possible? anyone tried and spent an evening scraping their slow cooker pan?
