Apart from anything else, she would not be able to give consent for any treatment / operation if she's only 16 - the consultant will want to speak to her parent/s

Though I agree that there is nothing wrong with a child wanting their mother with them at a hospital appt (I would want someone with me even at my age!), the above is incorrect. Assuming the 'child' is able to understand any procedure and the risks involved, they may give consent themselves.

Hope it went ok l_l x

I'd not dream of letting a 16yr old of mine go to a hospital appointment on their own!

ok, my daughter is 16 but she had to have some ivestgiatory proceedures and some blood taken and didnt want to go on her own plus its a 40 mile round trip.

so all of those who condem me for supporting my daughter at her request .... give your head a shake. i do not apologise for supporting my daughter at her request when she was worried about a medical proceedure.

Loops, take a look at this - it may help:

I would & have done the same - to the extent of supporting my sons whilst at Uni.

Plus, whenever I've had tonsilitis as an adult (used to get it badly as a child too) I've felt like !!!! and would have welcomed someone there with me! I'd have been happier to accompany either of my DD's to hospital appointments (and still do, on occasions).
