How are the monthly amounts for c-tax worked out..

Above is my council tax band and amounts..we pay £173 per month but cant see how they get this figure?
Any ideas..thanks

You've not mentioned the frequency of payments.

I pay mine in 10 monthly installments and i believe this to be the norm throughout the UK.

If you are only supposed to pay £885pa, you should be paying only £88.50 per month.

I guess you're paying it in 5 mothly installments as opposed to 10 perhaps?

5x £173 = £865 (So £20 short)

Hi Mitchaa thanks for the reply, ok there are 3 of us living here, me df and our daughter 9, the list i showed below are the charges for 2007 and as it wouldnt paste properly i had to re write it, that is what it says and the single bit is on there but obviously doesn't apply for us..
We pay in 10 instalments like you so that's why i can't work out why it is different? Below is the page not sure if it will load but might explain bit better:
