its interesting to read everyones goals.

I feel my £20,000 target is pretty low for a house in a city in the south east. Ha.
I'm down South as well and our final goal is £150K  . That's because we need a 4 bed house (or at least a 3 bed with 2 reception rooms) and at the moment they're around £250-£300K at least. Hoping they will drop down by a significant amount. Also we don't earn loads so know we won't get a high mortgage.

Not quite sure where our deposit stands at the moment as I've not checked my figures this month - let's hope it's higher than last month! ;)

DH has just had interest added to his ISA account and I was paid on Friday.... which means that we now have 57.5% of our deposit target. Little by little we are getting there!

Yikes!! I couldnt save that much. Im only 22, and were just going to save a bit for a small house and then get a bigger one once we have our first one. Im not looking for a house just yet to raise a family in, so the first house can be just a way of stepping up to something better.

I will try and save more than £20,000 i think, but at the moment were living on one wage nigh on and one person saving so poor boyfriend is doing alot at the mo!

    Good luck with your target!

Have got another £500 in my deposit fund this month, almost dead on target! Have revised target also from 10k in Dec to £15k by June next year - hopefully I can hold off any changes in personal circumstances until then!

However I do have redundancy looming at the end of the month. It could work out positively in that, if I find another job quickly, I'll have a month's pay towards the deposit, or it could work out poorly whereby I have to draw on ym funds to get through the time without a job!

TBH I don't think we can either :D. I am hoping the prices will come down by loads though.

Not seen this thread before but have enjoyed having a read of the first few pages. I will try and read them all when I get chance.

Me and DH are also saving for a deposit so we can get out of our 1 bed flat. We bought 5 years ago with a 125% mortgage and wished we had saved at the time. Hopefully any deposit we do save won't all be eaten up by negative equity, although I think we are pretty borderline at the mo.

The plan initially was to put our flat on the market this time next year and be in at least a 3 bed house in Surrey by July 2010. We are now looking to sell ASAP and move into rented accommodation if need be for a short while. We are saving between £2-3k a month at the moment as DH is working away. £2k pm is the goal though.

We went to see some new builds the other day which we fell in love with and it has really given us an incentive to stick to our budgets.

I got paid yesterday so I saved £700 towards my deposit and a further £100 into my 'Rainy Day' fund (I am trying to save 6-12 months worth of mortgage payments as a reserve incase I lose my job when I do eventually buy).

Getting there slowly but it's taking time :( Sometimes I feel like it's a never ending battle but then I get huge encouragement when House Price figures are released.

Noticing some nice drops in my area too which is bringing that date forward all the time!
