Nice to see up beat postings.

We have been renting for 15yrs and hopefully will have enough of a deposit around spring 2010.

Our breakdown is : £10k in a Nationwide bond (6.49% gross matures in March, haven't got a clue what to do with it then)

    £12k in ISA,S

    £3k in crap accounts

£10k (antiques -not cash though, but values seem to be stable)

    Total around £35k .....

When we buy we want to have 12 month mortgage money as a back-up..

    GOOD LUCK ALL:rotfl:

We have doubled our efforts on deposit saving this month and now we're up to 8% deposit for our house. Woohoo!
  • Quite sad, I am waiting eagerly for payday to be able to put some more money into our ISAs and update my signature lol!!
Really gonna have to make a huge effort between now and he end of the tax year-due to the ISA allowances and the fact that this is the most likely time we will have overtime this year so need to exploit that! Feels like such a long road at the moment, especially when I've already seen a house I love on t'internet...no disrespect to the seller but I'm hoping it's still there this time next year :o

  • I had £100 left this month and have finally been paid £400 of overtime I've been waiting for. Deposit should hit 30k this month :j

Fingers crossed for no unplanned expenditure

I must be sad too!! This month I swept my surplus money into my esaver, which has a slightly better rate than my ISA, but then on payday (yesterday, a day early:j ) I put 25% of my wages into my ISA. I know what you mean about seeing a house on the net. I do this constantly and keep wishing that I had enough to buy it. But a we're living on just my p/t wages and WTC for the next 2 years or so that doesn't look likely  .

We have nearly 8% towards our deposit. I've broken it into goals as it seems less daunting that way.

Sorry if I seem nosey, but what area of Sheffield are you looking to buy in? We're saving for a deposit too although probably won't be buying until late 2010 kind of time. We're from Sheffield also :)

I originally set a target of £10k to save up, but I think I'm going to increase that to £15k (so then we'll have £30k between us) as I want to include purchasing costs in my target. And I quite like that idea of having 6 or 12 months mortgage saved up as a backup :)
