Hope everyone's savings are doing well
I have been very lucky and been able to save the maximum amount that my saving accounts would allow me to for the last couple of months so I'm at around £3700 ish at the momentnot going to hit £5K by April but I didn't think I'd have £3K so I'm very pleased with that
Aiming for £8K by the end if the year which at this rate, should be doable! I know I have been lucky the last couple of months and don't expect that I'll be able to save the maximum every month but every little helpsI’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Amazing work Diggingdude!
Have you found a property to offer on yet?
We bought our first flat 15 months ago now and it feels so good to have been building up equity ever since. We've got a mon-fri only lodger too which has really helped save for our upcoming wedding. I'm addicted to saving now!0 -

Thanks GoingOn30. Yes offered and accepted on a property early January. Its all in the hands of the solicitors now who are taking as long as I would expect. Was hoping to be in the end of the month but suspect it may be April.
I have been thinking about taking a lodger in but not sure i could cope with that. I know I would love seeing the mortgage come down. Realistically I was planning on buying something more expensive than I have so the plan is to pa £121 a month overpayment to meet the mortgage payment I was planning on paying. Really hoping I am in before Easter as its by a small wood and my nephew wants to go on the Easter egg hunt they have there.
Best wishes for the wedding, hope its amazingAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0 -
At least when the deposit comes out of your accounts Diggingdude you'll have some pennies left over and it won't look completely bare!
As of the end of February:
Nationwide Reg Saver: £1,250
Nationwide Current: £2,500
TSB Current: £2,250
Marcus: £5,857.67
LISA: £10,343.72
Credit card: -£54.80
Total: £22,146.67
I've got some overtime pay due which may or may not get paid this month. If it does I'm looking to save around £1000. I also need to move £4,000 out of my Marcus and into my LISA towards the end of the month too (although I've got itchy feet already and a sense of paranoia that I'll forget that almost makes me want to move it now!)
My goal for the end of 2019 is to reach £30,000 - it's going to be very tight as to whether I can make it but that makes it interesting I supposeSave 12K 2019 #37 - £3,512.97 / £6,000 (July)

Exchanged today with completion next Wednesday so time for me to leave this thread. All the best with the saving everyone I hope you reach your targetsAn answer isn't spam just because you don't like it......0

We put an offer in for a flat this week however it was rejected - the minimum amount the vendors were wanting was at the limit of our affordability so we've left it. I would be surprised if they get the amount they're looking for so maybe we'll hear from them within the next couple of months - who knows!
The good thing is that the whole experience has given me a renewed focus when it comes to saving and I'm watching the pennies just in case something else comes up and we can afford it. That way we'll be prepared for all scenarios!Save 12K 2019 #37 - £3,512.97 / £6,000 (July)

After a couple of counter offers on the flat we've had one accepted! They've agreed to move out so the whole process is chain free - fingers crossed everything progresses as quickly as it can do!Save 12K 2019 #37 - £3,512.97 / £6,000 (July)

Sorry if this message has come as a reply, first time user who needs some advice!
Me and my partner are both in debt so the best option was a joint IVA, it sounds promising and we can pay off our debt a lot earlier than the original debt. We are currently living in a property that isn’t really suitable for our baby and I was wondering if the IVA would affect our chances of renting; if so what can I do to increase the chances of a landlord renting out to us? Also does anyone know of any landlords that would be willing to accept tenants that are reliable, pay their rent on time and are in full time work in the North West area
Many thanks in advance0 -
