  • In a very fast change of events - we found a perfect house which went on the market on Friday, viewed yesterday, put an offer in this morning, and have had it accepted! I'm over the moon :j less than our maximum budget too.

Yessss I’m exactly the same!! A property came up three weeks ago, went to view it a few days after being put on the market and put an offer in! All accepted and going forward with purchasing! Under our budget too... so happy :D not moving in till March time as the couple are waiting in their new build to be built... so more time to save a few extra pennies!
  • Me and the OH have just moved back in with my Mum. Hoping to stay a year to save the last £12K....anyone want to wage a bet on how long we'll end up being here? :rotfl:

Yay, congrats! We don't know yet when we will be able to move in. Seller's have had an offer accepted on a property which is vacant, so we only have a small chain. Estate agent told us they want to move fast, which we are more than happy to do. We are on a monthly rolling contract in our rental so no problems there. However, 6 weeks takes us to Christmas, so I bet it will be early to mid January. It's so exciting though!

  • Pay day update:

Saved a slightly lower than usual £663 this month. Taking our total to £19.5k, plus additional £2k in Help to Buy ISA bonuses.

We paid for a HomeBuyers Report (survey) and paid our solicitor upfront for local authority searches etc. in the month, rather than paying for them out of savings.

Gonna pay an extra £200 each into our ISAs on 1st December to get the most out of our bonuses before we exchange contracts and close accounts (extra £100 bonus, wahoo!). We've decided to still stick with a deposit of 10%, plus bonuses, so we've got savings left over to pay our solicitor's fees and pay for things like moving van/odd decorating jobs/curtains etc. for the new house when we move in. We might be in by mid-December, almost certainly before Christmas!

Makes all the years of working our butts off and saving really hard totally worth it. Our own home

  • Hello all - that's great news diggingdude! Not long before it all gets very real :D

I keep have to pretending to myself that we're going to start looking for properties by a certain date (I'm pretending it's August 2019 at the moment as that's when our rental tenancy renews) so that whenever the date does roll around I'll be ready :rotfl:
