Bopsybunny my son has gluten free dairy free diet which means that we all are most of the time on that diet too as it wouldn't make sense to cook 2 separate dinners. Did you ever try a chocolate brownie mix that you can buy in tesco, it's £1.70 and you only need to add eggs water and butter/dairy free spread. It's really yummy and quick to make.
We went to our solicitor today to sign the contract. We will complete next Friday. We had a small hiccup because of help to buy ISA- when we closed our ISAs today we were expecting to get account closing statement which solicitors uses then to apply for our bonus, unfortunately both banks (santander and nationwide) said they can't give it to us today, it will be posted within 5 working days! They said they can view it on the screen once the letter is generated (nationwide probably on Moday afternoon, santander Thursday after 12pm) and print it for us then. We arranged with solicitor that we will transfer the full deposit from our account so we can still get the keys on Friday and when they will receive our bonus then they will send it back to our account. I'm glad we got this sorted as I wouldn't want to wait for another week- in my head I already moved to the new house:rotfl:
Good news is that we will be getting £350 cashback from natwest for taking our mortgage, which will go straight back in as our first overpayment:j0 -

Hi all
Nice to read through all the posts! May was a really busy month so I've not posted here. Still saving my target amount each month (except this month as I paid my car insurance in full). Will hopefully catch up the downfall in the coming months with the second job.
I haven't done any counting, but I think we are on about 8k as of the start of this month. Only another 5k to go! I'm hoping to exceed our end of year target!0 -
Just checked! We will get to 8k at the end of this month!0

diggingdude you're guessing right
House needs a bit of work so for the first year overpayments are only going to be small but by the next Summer we plan to be overpaying by 10%.
Daybyday well done!
I should officialy check out of this thread. We completed on Friday and we are so happy. OH is away to the new house with another carload of stuff and I'm in our rental trying to entertain the kids and organise everything for the next run. I'm packing everything we will not be using for the next week and house looks so bare without decorations. Hate moving house but at least this time it's for a good reason- we finally own it!
I just want to wish all of you good luck on this journey. It will be all worth it at the end:kisses:0 -

I'm still here :rotfl:
House prices around me are truly rocketing so my decision to go with SO seems to be the right one for the time being. Hoping to have hit the magic £1K mark by the end of July. Doesn't seem much but I only started this part way through April so I don't think I've done too badly really
The very best of luck to you WodaSodowa, I hope you'll be very happy :beer:I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Hello. I've been reading this thread off and on for a while, I don't think I've posted before. It's a bit late to start now really but anyway.
I currently have £67,200 saved, including maximum LISA bonuses. :j I'm getting married in August but my fiance hasn't contributed anything to the deposit and he's going to Uni in October as a full time student so I'm applying by myself with him as a dependant.
My regular savers mature in October so at that point I'm going to fill up my ISA and consolidate the rest into an easy access saving account. I'm hoping to have £72,500 by then.
At that point I guess I'll be applying for an AIP and getting in contact with Estate Agents. :eek:No. 30 on Save 12k in 2018 £20,218.75/£20,000
No. 90 on Save 12k in 2017 £19,650.21/£15,0000 -
I'm so chuffed... We've been saving super hard for a few weeks, as per my last post, and it looks like we're going to be able to put just over £1000 in savings this month despite paying £450 for Center Parcs! Pay day Thursday will feel so good
On another positive note, planning meals, eating less snacks, drinking less alcohol and taking up (free of charge) exercise, I'm getting slimmer :jWedding savings Jan 19: £1.4k. Sept 19: £7.5k. Mar 20: £12.6k
Goal: Pay for wedding by August 20200 -
I'm almost 27 and my Dad has graciously let me move back in with him so I can start saving money for a deposit after years of me wasting money, not saving etc etc. I'm moving back in next month!
I've budgeted for saving a minimum of £500 per month and maybe even £700 on a good month. I'm not in the best paying job at the moment but I'm doing a degree so with any luck I can find a better job in a few years time and with money saved up!
A bit nervous but it should be OKDeposit saved: Jun 18 - £350/£20k0
