Me and my bf are hoping to save a 10% deposit so we can progress from our 1 bed flat to a 3 bed house. He is in the process of selling his car to repay his loan and start saving.Squish0 -
Thanks jamtart - good luck in your place, cannot wait to start official house hunting

We're going away today until next Saturday so I probably won't be on here until next weekend, so I just wanted to wish all our fellow deposit seekers a very Merry Christmas!

Decided to take responsibility, knuckle down and save up to get my own place.
Last few months I've managed to put away enough to fill an ISA which has started me off.
Am able to save about 700 a month so could be a few years off my target of 25k which is daunting.
Hats off to everyone who has managed to keep on track with their savings.
I'm finding i swing from feeling positive about saving and other days getting down about obsessing over money. Looking too far ahead etc0 -

Hi,
I would like to join this. I am 27, married with 1 kid. We really want to buy a place asap so I have set a target of end of 2009. We've got no debt and currently 15K savings. Want to get 20K by end of July 09 then maybe set another target for end of 2009. Wanted to say 30K by end of 2009 but chickened out!!
Have put my progress in my sig.
Doing everything possible to save. We cut right down on Christmas presents (we had a 1 present rule, although everyone broke it, it still helped to cut down!!). Currently getting into this matched betting lark which seems good if you have extra time (I work from home!) and not allowing my wife to buy shoes (!). What else.. cut down on loads of bills and just generally changed lifestyle, hardly buying any extras these days.
Want to make 2009 the most I have ever saved (which shouldn't be hard!!!)
