Reached £22,000 over the weekend! Really aiming for £25k by the end of the year.
Currently off work for the week so don't expect to add to the fun this week or next. Every time I save £1,000 I like to give myself a little treat. M
Ooh, nice idea, what sort of treats do you give yourself? It's been a while, but quite a big update from me!!
A few months ago we had an offer accepted on our first house!
I'd set a target of saving 100k by myself, which I didn't quite hit as I'm currently at £93.5k.
Depending on how long the process takes, I may hit 95k.
My partner also has a similar sum saved, so combined were putting down a nice chunk, although it still leaves us with a 6 figure mortgage (I had hoped for 5!)
I'll keep you guys posted on what I finish my savings journey on before it all disappears, but I guess I'll be leaving this thread soon after many years and moving over to the mortgage free wannabe board instead!
Tara, I'll leave it in your very capable hands to hit the big 100!!!
Best of luck everyone!
Love Evie xxx

I've managed to save more than my revised £30k target so I'm really pleased. All the overtime I've been putting in has really helped but will be coming to an end soon.
There is very little coming up for sale within my budget at the moment so I'm tempted to try to save a bit more while I incessantly check right move. I think I probably need to lower my expectations a bit too...Mortgage overpayments 2018: £4602, 2019: £7870

I have been saving since late 2013 and gradually losing hope of ever reaching the stage of buying... have saved up £8,700 in the South East lol. ):0

We never really hit our target itself. We got gifted a few K and had already offered so I forgot about this thread!
First house we pulled out after bad survey, second house spent ages going in circles and we had enough, third time lucky now (we hope!). Buying in Essex, 210k. Wouldn't manage if we weren't a couple.0 -
Got married in 2011 and having been saving since. Live in dad's 2nd home so able to save a lot by splitting the bills and tax.
In 2011 after my wedding I had £1.5k. Right now I have £62k. Which means I've saved 62/4= 15.5k on average per year.
Have a baby coming later this year so want to save as much as possible before then. Hoping to buy a house sometime next year with hopefully £75k of which £70k can go towards a deposit.
I'm having to sift through the threads here to try and figure out what price house I should buy. I'm aiming for a £180k house, which will probably it's on the marker for 200-215k. The area I'm looking to buy is Wednesbury/Willenhall near the M6.0 -
Waaah - why didnt i see this before! Definitely joining up here. I am going to start updating my signature in detail now - previously it was as and when.
We have taken a couple of knocks recently - we overspent on holiday, my car insurance has come back at nearly £900 which i pay by debit card to avoid credit card charges or paying monthly at additional cost, and I took some money to invest in the stock market (bad idea).
So, we are trying to save as much as we can really, current signature is correct as of today.
We use YNAB and find it an excellent way of working out the family budget.Total Credit Used...=........£9,000 / £52,700

Hi all, wow I've not been here for a few months - the progress some of you have made is amazing (Tara & Jim I've really been inspired by your progress on the thread)
I'm currently at the saving starting blocks with £1,500 and have given myself a target of £4,800 to reach by December. Christmas won't get in my way thankfully as I keep a rolling saving pot for it of £30 a month - so hopefully I will hit my target & start 2016 off in the right way!!
Happy saving all
