Just short of £8k at the end of February
Hoping for £10k at the end of March but we'll see...
If we buy where we currently live we will need at least £40k for a 10% deposit and stamp duty/fees  so our approach is two-fold:
1) We save as much as possible as quickly as possible, our initial aim is £25k by the end of 2014 including having paid of our remaining debt.
2) We are attempting to engineer a move back up north, near family and where houses are cheaper so our funds will stretch further. It won't be easy with our jobs but we're going to try.0 -
Barring a total disastor, I "should" be back up to "full pay" by next month as well. So clearing the overdraft shouldn't be a problem and even if it is, I can always skip a month of saving to stabalise things.
So there's been a paperwork/organisational c***up and hence I'm still recieving half pay despite working full time hours.
Having had the car insurance and road tax to pay in successive months hasn't been ideal and as a result I'm now deep into my overdraft. Although luckily my overdraft has good terms.
I'm torn between puting this months standing order to my savings back into my current account, or waiting until pay day and hoping my employer has sorted out my pay and gives me back pay. Which would clear the overdraft and enable me to start saving normally again.
I'm currently on £15546.04 minus overdraft.:www: Progress Report :www:
Offer accepted: £107'000
Deposit: £23'000
Mortgage approved for: £84'000
Exchanged: 2/3/16
:T ... complete on 9/3/16 ... :T0 -

Thanks to bonus month we've gone from £6300 to £12310 although just about to buy a new car so we may need to dip into this slightly.
Total needed for our deposit and costs is about £18k and we are hoping to make a small profit from selling our home to help us achieve this (current offer on our property would give us a £3k profit based on our outstanding mortgage). Just need to actually sell our place now!!!0 -
Little update from me. I've now hit 65k
Current total stands at £65,050. Was hoping to hit 70k before my next birthday but think I'm going to miss it slightly. Never mind though, still happy.
Love reading about everyone's progress and huge congratulations to those who have recently had offers accepted!0 -
Oh how I miss this thread...
Due to redundancy in April 2013 and not having found a full time perm job since I've been unable to save since 2012I did put £14 into my isa back in Oct, this was a rebate from elec co for paying to much!
I've somehow manage to cling onto the 10k I have managed to save and I'd rather go without things than start to spend the money
Hopefully I can "rejoin" the saving mission again...Aspiring to be financially independent.... from my parents!0 -
New to the thread so thought I would say hello.
I'm saving for a deposit it's going to take about 10 months as I aim to save £300 a month and also use the bonus I get this month.
This will give me enough for a 5% deposit as I'm looking to buy a house for roughly 60-65k as my first home as I live in West Yorkshire house prices are low.Official DFW Nerd Club - Member no. 0650
