Another newbie!! We are currently saving to buy a new build and also have our house on the market.
We started saving in July and have £6300 but by the end of this month should have £13115. Aim is to have £20k by the end of the year by saving around £1k a month - the house type we want will be ready in Nov/Dec and we are hoping we can sell ours quickly to allow us to reserve!!0 -
Hit the £4k milestone this month
£4117 :j0 -
I've seen about 8 houses so far, only one of which is a possibility. It has helped me to narrow down areas and so on, though. Just getting a bit hacked off with estate agents not making it clear in the particulars if somewhere needs work doing, as I don't have the money to do it and would rather not waste my time viewing properties which I'm never going to offer on! One property I saw on Saturday had holes in the ceiling from damp but no mention of any issues in the particulars.
Still, I'm currently living at home so the longer it takes the more I save, and I don't want to feel rushed into it and end up getting the wrong house. Better to take my time!0 -
This is my first post in this thread to mark the start of our 'serious saving'.
By March we will have £11520 (2 full ISAs).
The aim is to have £22500 by March 2015 with a view to buying somewhere shortly after.
We are moving in Sept (husband in army) so not entirely sure we can save this much as I have no idea what job I will get once we have moved...but we will certainly try.0 -
Good morning all,
Just thought I'd share my joy, I reached my deposit target this month! :j £15k was my minumum based on the area I want to move to. Of course now I just have to keep on saving...! I might even change my target to £20k since I won't be moving until autumn at the earliest (decided to stay put and count the pennies for a little while longer). It feels great!

Another good month with £2k saved this month, easily helped with a lovely bonus which also paid for a weekend away and skiing trip.
Working very long weeks and hopefully there will be a good bonus for this in a few months, so may reach my target by August at this current rate"No likey no need to hit thanks button!":pHowever its always nice to be thanked if you feel mine and other people's posts here offer great advice:D So hit the button if you likey:rotfl:0 -
Hey everyone,
Glad I found this thread as hubbie and I have just started saving for our house deposit. Our aim is 32k, hopefully increase to 40k if we have the time! We have been married for just over a year and living with in laws to maximise saving.
I have very old debt that has been haunting me since is as at uni and have finally put a plan into motion to start paying it off and will be debt free this time next year! Hubbie is saving by himself and target is 10k for the next 12 months and then once wears both saving we should hit 24k in 24months. Somehow (for me) the idea of being 75% at the target in 24 paycheck seems quicker!
We have just under £1.5k in the savings account ATM.
We are Londoners so will unfortunately have to fork out a fair amount, but hoping our salaries will go up a bit, to help with the savings and of course ultimately- the mortgage.
I am trying to absorb as much info about buying a property as we are both FTBs. I told my hubbie he has at least 24 months to get amazing at DIY lol.
Everyone has been doing amazing and I am in awe of everyone managing to save so much money in these hard times!
Happy Depositing everyone!

Saw a lovely house at the weekend and have put an offer in so waiting to hear back today! Eek!
I've only seen it once but there were 7 other people seeing it the same day so didn't want to wait and risk losing out. Wish me luck!0 -
