Computer says no is SO annoying! That is really pants. Though looking for a silver lining think of the fantastic place you could get with another year's worth of savings[STRIKE]Saving for my first home. Looks like I'll need about 30k...total so far £24810.49. Here goes! [/STRIKE]

I agree!
Although I've worked hard to save a decent sum for the deposit, I know it will be harder for me to be accepted as I'm self employed! Where as someone could have only saved a 5% deposit, but as they are PAYE they are more likely to be accepted!
Seems very unfair. I also don't understand why being self employed is classed as more risky, as no job is particularly stable anymore anyway.0 -
Well I have come to the conclusion that if I am still single in 4 years time there is no way in hell I would be able to buy on my own in London in 4 years. So I am now working to a target of around 35-50k to put on a 150k property anywhere but London.
Although, I cant help but engage myself in the somewhat futile activity of guestimating what the house prices will be like in 4 years.8k in 2015 Challenge ( #167)0 -
Hey everyone, having one of those months where we started well but had to dip into savings to cover some unexpected costs and also we have a little trip booked which means more spending so it's going to make June not a very good month on the savings front. However there is always next month to make up for it. Still on target for Dec/Jan 13 to have our funds in place before we start looking at buying.
Sorry for ramble just needed to get this off my chest lol not everyone in my household shares my obsession with saving so I try not bore them with the details.....I save that for the poor people who will read this!!Regular saver £200 Saving for emergency fund (£2000)

Probably just £600 for me this month. Will take me up-to £11669.52
My income is likely to drop somewhat in the near future as well as I'm now on the redeployment register at work, but if it gives me a more comfortable work life I'm all for it.:www: Progress Report :www:

It looks like everyone's incomes being hit at the moment, best of luck to every one of you. Looks like I will be off here soon also, my partner and I have decided now is the right time to start looking and will be approaching the bank / broker in July to get things rolling.Aim - BUYING A HOUSE  by November 2013!Saved = 100% on 03/07/12 :j0

Another payday update to the signature.
I think we have now viewed 13 houses. The market it crazy where we are looking with only one viewing possible before it goes under offer and often its an open day so shared with 10-20 other people doing the same thing.. sigh!
However, no matter how frustrating this whole process is we feel so lucky to have finally reached the position where we can potentially buy somewhere in London (it blows my mind a bit actually).
To those newbies just starting, saving hard is a tiresome slog sometimes but time passes quicker then you think and its all worth it when you reach your goal.

Very slow month - only saved £490. Had a lot of birthdays this month to buy for including a 30th, so that's probably why !
Takes us up to £6330 total. Hoping to go all out and hit 7 grand by the end of July!Mortgage - £99,000 (Septmber 2018)Halifax Credit Card - £1500 (Septmber 2018)0 -
Although less than hoped for well done puppetmaster00 anyway for the progress towards your total. Some months just aren't as lucrative as others. Good luck on your July plan! I do love a mini-target; makes it all feel so much more achievable.[STRIKE]Saving for my first home. Looks like I'll need about 30k...total so far £24810.49. Here goes! [/STRIKE]
