    Hi everyone,

It's great to see the new savers and everyones targets going up.

So after having lots of work at the end of the year and being paid up i've just added £2000, taking my total to £9,047.94. I didn't quite hit my end of year target to get to £10,000 which is a bit disappointing but seeing as my T.V. broke and I had to buy a new one with a few other things last year i'm still proud of what I saved.
I haven't worked out exactly what i saved over 2012 but i'm pretty sure i've doubled my savings so its a good push forward.

I'm not sure how much I can save in 2013 with still being freelance, hopefully a lot more. But I am looking to retrain giving me better job prospects so everything could take a hit, we'll see how the year pans out.

Can't wait until my ISA interest is applied in the next few months and to get over the 10K mark :j

Got the saving bug back, just a shame i've not got much work at the mo, gonna be positive though and have a clearout selling a few bits, it all helps! Kepp up the good work everyone :)

  • Hi All,

Happy New Year! I haven't given an update in a few months because my finances were all over the place. I would have hit my £30k target in December 2012 but my car died on me so I had to purchase a new one and dip in to savings.

NOW I am £2k short of my target YAY! We went to visit a mortgage advisor a month ago and were pleasantly surprised at what we could afford. We are going to NYC next month so when we are back we will return to the mortgage advisor and try and progress from there. VERY EXCITING!!!

I've been a member of this thread for a long time now and I can finally see the finish line in sight!

    Happy saving :)

Another quiet month for me. Car insurance to pay for plus the inevitable crap life throws at you.

Probably only a saving of £300 this month to bring my FD Regular Saver to maturity.
    :www: Progress Report :www:
    Offer accepted: £107'000

  • We've been saving for a couple of years and now have the 15% deposit required for a £200k house. That's not going to get a top notch house where we live, but a lovely home I hope!
We've got our mortgage in principle and looking at houses. Far more stressful that we initially thought and discovered EA's are complete sharks quite quickly!!!
  • First time posting here, was just reading through some of the posts - it's actually so great to read how far some have come and are seeing their dream of their own home come true !
So, last year my bf and I both lost our jobs. We were renting at the time and were forced to move back to our parents so we decided to use the opportunity to start to save for our own home. I live in N. Ireland and you can get a good starter home for around 100,000 so we are aiming for 10% of that. Started saving in October and have got £3510 so far. Really hoping to reach our target by October 2013. We currently have debts of £900 on a credit card so going to get that paid off too ! Hopefully it will all go well !!
    Mortgage - £99,000 (Septmber 2018)
    Halifax Credit Card - £1500 (Septmber 2018)

    Welcome to the thread!

If you are being charged a higher interest on your CC than you are earning on your savings then you will be better off paying your debt with your savings before continuing to save.
