    Well Done!

Coming to the end of a very expensive month car wise, about £1000 all in, so haven't been able to save much. Up to £1800 now.

Try being a bit more open minded

Thanks everyone! Its made me realize what I used to waste all my money by saving. If I hadnt been saving I would have spent a lot on new shoes and clothes like I used to it but now I've realized that those things can't make you happy forever! Getting independence from buying my own place will make me happy for a very long time! :-)

I need to save around £15-20k for a deposit for a house.

I am just out of an IVA by a year, so I'm thinking 3-4 years before I can purchase. Which may see a different housing market then right now.

I reckon I could save at least £300 per month, as that was what I was paying approximately in my IVA, and also last year I paid my 2k OD off over 12 months.

I'm also looking to take myself off the road and cycle to work, which as well as making me fitter, it will give me around 2k per year in savings.

We have spent lots recently. Booked a holiday and bought some things for ourselves so still at £110,000 whic was a target. Still not found a house to buy so it's keep saving until one comes along. But not being so harsh with ourselves anymore.

I wish!! Not round here. We are looking at spending up to £200,000 so a 50% deposit. Which will get us a 2 or 3 bed in the areas we are looking near to work and family.

Just checking in and a little update from me.

So all change here, ended up not going to the New York job for the summer, for various reasons and I have already done it once before (last summer).

I'm always worried about where the next job will come from because of being self-employed and so in turn I don't know when and what I can save, very frustrating.
After not being able to save much all year june looks set to be a great month for work and I should be set to save £3000 (once all the invoices are paid of course, lets hope it doesn't take too long). :j

This would really set me back on track and just shows how quickly our fortunes can change in this saving game malarky :T

All these changes have just reminded me that I just need to keep going with the savings, it's not going to be a quick process but I will get there in the end, as will all of us :D

So I have decided that ISA is the way to go.

I'll be honest saving is never anything I have ever done. I have nice things, have nice holidays etc, but saving in the region of 20k is alien to me.

So I'm thinking of a fixed ISA for say 4 years that way I can't withdraw from it, and that will allow me to save what I need to save.

By the time the period is up there should be (hopefully) a decent housing market to move into, my credit rating will be much much improved (1 year out of an IVA currently) and I will have a decent size deposit for a nice house.

    It's a plan. :)

So far I have £0 saved up. That is soon to change.
