I had to use 100 from savings into current account to cover general spends. All bills are paid this months by dd.
Money ran out too quickly this month as has to chip into funeral cost. It was unexpected and very sad moment for the family.
Savings now 5900.Continue saving

My partner and I are saving for a house deposit. We are hoping to save a large deposit of £50,000 so we can have a shorter mortgage.
I will be going back home to live with parents at the end of the year to avoid paying rent and extras in housing association flat in order to save an extra £800. per month. Very sad that it has come to this but will not be able to save otherwise.
Will be back to update. Happy saving all xx
Exactly the same thing for us too! it can be difficult but its worth it

Quick question for everyone, what % are you aiming for? We were aiming for 20% but we might go for 30% whilst we can
aiming for 15% (+ fee's stamp duty etc etc). London prices!:eek:Started saving January 2011

I'm looking at houses at 170k - 195k. Think the lowest I'd be able to find would be 170 unless prices drop within a couple of years. Me and the boyfriend are both only 22 so think we'll be saving unfortunately for another 2 years yet. By then I should have about 60k and the boyfriend would prob have about 20k. However, I'm not going to use all my money for the deposit as I like to know that I have a fund if needed. Haven't really decided on a percentage, just want to get as much together as possible!0

Reading this forum over the years it really makes me wonder whether some of the posters are genuine.
Some of the totals acquired and the wages needed to acquire those totals (unless a parental gift) makes me wonder why someone in the highest wage brackets would need a thread (or a forum) such as this to motivate them to save. One poster above wants to have us believe his ambition is to save £25,000 in 6 months.
It's a bit like being asked to believe Sheikh Mansour had to save up the money to buy man city. It's just not credible and neither are some of these posters.0 -

Just because people want to reach £25,000 in 6 months, doesn't mean they've started with zero!
Try being a bit more open minded0 -
Hi Happy Savers
Pay day update from me - I have officially reached my target - 15% deposit of a £140k house. That was bloody hard work!!! I feel quite proud of myself really as I've managed to save £21k in 2.5 years and havent missed out on and holidays or nights out. I'm so glad i started saving as my friends who also live at home havent saved a penny and i would hate to be in the same position as them in a few years time with nothing! Having said this, my OH still needs to find a new job before we mactually start to look for a house. So in the mean time im happy to carry on saving and maybe end up with a larger % deposit!
This forum has been really motivational for me and i just wanna thank everyone for contributing and helping each other along.
