I've been lurking for a while, you're all so inspirational.
My husband and I are planning to buy our first home in Spring next year.
Our first goal is to save 5% deposit on a £125k house (to avoid stamp duty) by Christmas, we're using the Nationwide Save to buy scheme.
Today's payday so proper savings start from today :j I need to update my signature.

I think you'll find it difficult to get a 95% LTV mortgage - and if you did, the rates would be sky high!

:rotfl:Be impossible to find anything for 125K.

Mrs Coupon is saving with nationwide save to buy accounts, with these they offer a 5% depoist mortgage. Of course you have to meet their requirements etc.... But I believe this is what they are aiming for......

    I could retire..

I know that... Unfortunately given the price we're paying for rent, the quicker we get our own house, the better even at a 6.5% rate. The Nationwide scheme allows you to apply for a 95% mortgage if you save with them for long enough so we'll try that first.
If unsuccessful, we'll have to save for longer for a 10% deposit.

    Hi happy savers

A little pay day update from me - I've added about 1k to my deposit pot Hooray! Still no closer to moving out though even though I will have my full deposit next month. Other half needs a new job before we move and that doesn't seem to be in sight :-( So new plan - save save save and have an even bigger deposit when we do eventually move. That or buy a property on my own! Funny how plans change from when I first started saving 2.5 years ago

Updated my signature to reflect my current savings of £2800.36

I put away £600, but I'll be using the overdraft for certain this month due to annual pilgrimage to Le Mans.

I've been putting off having a tooth extraction. 2 by the looks of things. I will have to go private. On top of that (it never rains around here, but it does pour) my tax disc needs renewing. I'm also putting off replacing my car battery, but that's another story for another time.

My savings as of today are £10,063.46.

Psychologically it's important to pass the £10k barrier but I know this won't feel real until I get the next 10k (if indeed I do).
