Wow just read some of the more recent posts on here. Very impressive people and saving totals I must say! If I keep to my budget this month I should reach the 20k mark!! My target these days is to get to 30k plus fees and moving in cost so still a while off but I will be pleased to get into the 20's!

So, I like to keep £2k in my current account (i know, i know) just in case.
Burnsie, have you heard about the Santander Preferred Current Account? They pay interest of 5% on current account balances of up to £2500. That way you can have your cake and eat it too!
Exciting news for me, I was offered a new job on Thursday. Not only is it an extra £150 a month, it's also a permanent contract, so hopefully in 6/12 months time, I should have enough employment history for a mortgage!
House deposit fund:
£6,780.71 /£13,500 - 50.23% of the way...
Target date: 17 August 2012
Nothing is impossible, the word itself says 'I'm possible'.

Amazing figures everyone!! We are now up to £5k which we've been saving since September (when we moved in together). Aiming to have saved 8k by the end of this year, with next year being better for saving (will have paid off our furniture, car & sofa- all on 0% credit deals btw :0) )
I've tried looking at the mortgage info thread, but am confused to how much to put aside for fee's; how much is everyone else ear-marking for survey fees, mortgage fees etc?
Thanks in advance:DFirst home- Oct’16 until June’21: £170.995- Overpayments made £13,784 (25% extra!).
New forever home- Sep’21 £309,449 @ 2.05%. Plan to clear it before 30 years!!!!!!0 -
