Good Morning all,
Payday today! By some Christmas miracle I stuck to budget this month and I had £480 left in the bank, so I managed to bank a whopping £780 rather than my usual £300. I'm really pleased with myself, I've even (so far) resisted the temptation to visit the sales :A
Good luck all!
At Christmas! Thats amazing!x:T3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

I can’t access my online banking but I’ve saved approx 4k.
My target is £700 a month (roughly 60% of my wage) which I I’ve kept close to for the last 6 months. I’ve had a holiday and Christmas presents to buy amongst other things so really happy with it so far. Good thing is, I’m not missing out on anything other than getting a nice car. Still go on hols, night out, season ticket, gym etc.
My original target is to get to 7k and then review. I know I’ll need more but I’ll cross that bridge when I reach my first target.
My mum & dad can’t help me like my friends have had, but the discounted rent is defo helping me loads. Defo wanna be out the house by 27!0 -
Thats good you can save and do nice things.
I am trying to enjoy the free things in life!
I have now put another £400.00 across from last months money so I am very pleased. Bring on January, hoping I might have some money left over from my budget to live on to shove across. If I could do £150.00 next month that would be amazing bring me into the 7k mark. xx3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

saved my usual £50 plus £48.75, i'm now at £1897.40
I can't see jan going well for me i'm not buying in sales or anything but we have £400 on our creditcard for desil and my xmas pressie which needs paid and an elec bill and i need to put away £145 for my t.v lisence, we prefer to pay it in full after getting into a mess with bank charges due to them taking it early when we were first married - i just need to know when it's due then that it's gone for a year.
So if i save £50 a week and no extra in jan i'll reach over £2k and be happy.....if i don't have to dip into my savings it will be an acheivementDEC GC £463.67/£450

January rent and private school fees have meant no savings this week (though I hit Decembers target). DW is no longer a student and has found a job which means we are be able to save much more than anticipated. Also, a wealthy family member has expressed interest in helping us with a cash gift though I'm still not sure what that would be and how that would change what we are looking at getting. The family member in question has asked me to start looking seriously now. All very exciting!0

Its to be expected that in December its harder to save. I am doing the sealed pot challenge to save for a sofa for when I get my new place (hopefully) so hopefully I will have some money left over for gifts. Christmas to me is not about the gifts anyway its about the company. Hope your saving does well in 2012. xx:)3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

Thats amazing news! I am not sure how gifted deposits work with mortgages but what a great oppertunity. :T3 Children - 2004 :heart2: 2014 :heart2: 2017 :heart2:

Added £100 to make myself feel better about not saving last week. Once school fees are paid we'll have no other big expenses for the next couple of weeks so should be able to pour everything into the fund :TThats amazing news! I am not sure how gifted deposits work with mortgages but what a great oppertunity. :T
I think I'll just have to declare it's a gift and then they will check that the money has been fairly taxed and isn't dodgy as far as I know. We won't be looking at a more expensive house, but a much smaller mortgage which will be good.:beer:0 -
Managed to save an extra £8k this past year by being super [STRIKE]stingy[/STRIKE] frugal!
Have upped the target for next December by £10k, (meaning an increase of £2k for the year's savings). Fingers crossed I don't have trouble getting a job after finishing uni!
Well done to everyone managing to save in January! :T
