  • I am also running an old car and am not expecting it to last to the next MOT. When he floats up to car heaven:A, I'm going to have to take the money out of the deposit fund.

That will be upsetting, but as I don't have a set date by when I want to buy my house (and I have saved more than expected this year) I didn't feel the need to open another savings account.

I also have car insurance due next month, so we wont be saving anything from our pay packets just yet.

I am running an old 'performance' car...mot is in Feb. Im hoping i can get a good few years from it. As its 4wd is perfect for winter. So hopefully this will allow me to concentrate fully on house deposit fund in 2012 and allow me to save a good £15,000 or so. My share of deposit should be £8,000 max so £7,000 enough for the rest for my share? Obviously i will be going for an emergency fund aswel....probably at least 3 months expenses. Looking at another 14 months on this thread then hopefully im into my own place...cant wait..
Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.
  • Thanks to a payrise back pay and over time i’ve managed to put a massive £2600 into my deposit fund this month!!!

Although with car tax, service, breakdown cover, Christmas presents and the missus’ birthday present to go on the CC i can see next month’s savings being considerably less!
  • Hi everyone
I have not updated my status on here since 30th July

I have been to see about a mortgage - with 1st mortgage and my bank (BOS) I was very surprised to hear my bank are willing to give me a mortgage for £99,100  that is 5 times my salary BUT including my WeightWatchers money each month would bump it up to £117,400
I will not be doing the latter as the amount vaires each month and as much as I intend to carry on with as a WW leader for a long time to come I want to have some money as back up and for overpaying a mortgage as well.

My current total is in my signature and I am working extra hard now to save every spare penny I can as I am getting desperate for a place of my own, I will have a place of my own by next summer at the latest.

I think I will join this thread. I'm going to uni next year, 21, living with parents but feel they want me out sooner rather than later. I have £13,500 saved and my aim is £30-50K before I move out. Annual target £6-10K.
