I know!! We can't wait! We were up there over the summer and noticed the lower price of living compared to the SE. We plan to rent for a while up there whilst we suss out the local property0

Hi all, and welcome newbies. Im more of a lurker than a poster on this thread right now, but just wanted to post a quick update.
I've managed another £1000 this month and have had the "no xmas presents" talk with my friends and family. I feel my future home is more important than buying them a load of rubbish that they do not want, and they feel the same. I urge you all to consider this, or at least scale things right back and let them know why. Your family and friends will understand and probably fully support it knowing they can then save too on whatever they were going to buy you (which you probably wouldn't want anyway).
Well I'm currently sitting with 47.55% of my deposit target saved, but keep seeing houses I like on right move, and keep thinking that if I can scale back my savings to just the 10% deposit required only and the fees needed then I could be buying just after christmas. I must keep my sensible head on here and resist. It will be much better long term to wait and get my full original target, as then I could have deposit, fees, furniture and a bit of savings.
But I just want my own place and want somewhere very soon!
Stop being silly, WAIT! :rotfl:
Come on sellers drop your prices a bit more for us.DFD: 23/12/20100 -

we did this several years ago when we all started having kids so we no longer buy friends i get budgets for christmas, grandparents get £30 each and brothers, sisters get £20 (last year this was £50 and £30 but priorities change) with deals and grabbits we have some fab pressies, our own kids are £250 for the twins (we wanted to buy them a t.v dvd rather than toys they wouldn't play with so this is abit higher than we planned) and £100 for our youngest we've went about £10 over on both of these so not too bad, but i def thing xmas needs budgetted for or else you just keep buying and buying and seeeing things u'd like or that you think someone you know would love when infact if they loved it they'd go buy them themselvesDEC GC £463.67/£450

We've done the strict budget for Christmas and birthday presents as well. Last year everyone in the family had a maximum £20 per present. It can make it quite fun too because you have to be creative. It's far too easy to just spend a lot of money on the latest gadget.0

Hi all,
thought i would join this thread too as I am losing motivation and have been "dipping" into my deposit savings lately!
I have almost saved my deposit and now saving for the extras such as the legal and agent fees and furniture.
I don't want to get into any further debt so want to save for as much upfront as I possibly can.
I think i have another 6 to 8 months push before I can buy so wish me luck!S.A.D and proud

they owe loads of houses round here, including my first rental, they also own a a big blocks of flats near the beaver hospital, i only know that cause my mum used to clean for them and we went and helped with the builders clean when they did them up
i'm feeling quite positive about my savings now because theres nothing else i could possibly need for awhile so i know i won't dip into them like i do far too ofteni think if i could stop doing it for say 6 months then i'd feel worse if i went to again as it had been so long if that makes sense
