    hi everyone

managed to add another £500 to my deposit fund, and another £150 to our joint fund

we have extended our target date to next june tho so we have a bit more saved :( - just worried about stretching ourselves too much when we move.

tara - can believe you have nearly £50,000 saved, thats amazing well done. do you plan to buy when you reach your £55,000 target or are you going to keep saving?

    xx

OH has savings as well - together we have almost £70,000 atm and are on track for about £75,000 between us by the end of 2011. We'll buy when we see the right house at the right price - no idea when that will be! Would love to buy for cash but don't mind a small, short mortgage if we find the 'right' house.

    Hi

Hope you guys don't mind me joining your thread. I've been perusing the DFW and MFW boards for a while and was thinking starting a diary to inspire me with my house deposit saving but there didn't seem to be an appropriate forum to put it in....but then I came across this thread!

DH and I have been together for 10years this year, met whilst I was at university the first time. Got engaged after 3 years together but took us another 4 to move out as I went back to uni.......we finally got married in Sept last year. During this time we've been saving frantically for a house deposit. Currently we're renting in a very expensive part of SW London and are hoping to move a about 20mins down the road nearer some friends where the properties are much more within our budget!

We went to some estate agents a few months ago who advised us to come back around July time (we're in a fixed contract on our flat until the end of december which we have to pay to get out of) so we're saving as much as we can until we find somewhere we love. The estate agent advised us to try and increase our deposit value to 25% (which, if we buy something at the top end of our budget is another 12.5k on top of what we had back then eeeekk!! But if we go midlow end of our budget then we're already there)

Our maximum house budget is £250,000 and we're looking for something with 2-3 bedrooms and a garden

Currently our savings stand as such:
    DH savings: 39562.81
    My savings/ISA combined: 14617.39
    Joint savings account: 6379.14

Plus I'm in the Virtual Sealed Pot and sealed pot challenges (every little helps right!?)
    VSP: 390.61
    Sealed Pot: 182

Giving us currently a grand total of 61131.95
Our goal is £72500 as this would be 25% plus money for fees, furnishings and decorating (and maybe a little nest egg spare to start our savings off again after wards!!) so we're 84.32% of the way there

Am looking forward to reading the whole of this thread....but with over 100 pages it may take me a while!

Our rates are rubbsih on most of the accounts but seeing as we're hoping to use the money within the next 3-4 months we haven't done anything about moving accounts

Am looking forward to seeing everyone elses progress (as well as my own!)

P.S. Hope noone minds me posting the exact totals (I can remove them if its not ok)

Exact totals are very welcome, we love numbers on this thread (anoraks that we are). :rotfl:

    Welcome to all the newbies!
LOL I like exact numbers too - the % is great but nothing like seeing the actual numbers rack up lol

DH annoucned today that he hadn't finished saving for this month and he's hoping to t/f some more to his savings account in the next few days (his online bnking has a max daily t/f limit so by the time he's trasferred out for all his bills he has to wait to do his savings in full) so hopefully that be a few extra hundred or so added to the savings :T

I worked some overtime this weekend - Sunday so is double pay, which is about another £120 or so - annoyingly I won't get paid it for another two months cos of having to hand in slips and getting them signed off by management. On the up side I worked easter (3 days double pay:T and a day at time and a half) so that should be through in the next pay packet

On the downside, DF is 30 next week and I just spent £180 on a pressie for him lol never mind - can't win them all!

Hi I'm another newbie on this thread. I should be debt free by October and then will be putting £450 aside each month, I have some savings (£3000) but the debt are on 0% deals and I would rather have the saving as an emergency fund. My father sadly passed away recently and has left me some money which will also be going into the deposit fund once probate is sorted.

You are all so inspiring I hope I can learn to be as good!

Sorry to hear about your father:(

Anyways, hope you enjoy the thread, good idea keeping the emergency fund. You never know when money is needed.

    Good luck

Oooh, I might have to join in this thread! I want to move to a bigger house but at the moment, that is an impossible dream. Part of the problem is the stam duty grrrr. We could afford the mortgage but no way the stamp duty out of our deposit or we'd never get a mortgage (ltv goes too high). If I can save on here though, maybe, just maybe it'll all come good in the end.

might stop me going on grabbit too!
