me too. im filling in my savings spreadsheet (its tough being cool...) days before my actual payday. all my money is spent before ive even earned it! ive worked out i have another year saving the amount I am now before I can start viewing properties. Seems so depressing! im really keen to move jobs and areas. plus my job is not very stable and i am liable to be moved all around the country at a moments notice. im so looking forward to buying somewhere permanent, rather than moving around. Ive lived in 3 different cities for my job over the past 5 years and to have the knowledge i will be somewhere long enough to get a magazine subscription would be nice!
i am totally sick of renting and terrible landlords.bit of a down in the dumps deposit saving day today

I'll join this as well.
I'm Gaz and I am starting to save for a deposit on a house with the aim of moving in the Summer of 2012.
We'll be first time buyers so looking for a smallish 2 bedroom, mid-terraced house.
My saving target is minimum of a 15% deposit which is about £11,000 and will be aiming to save £100 per month for the first 6 months (due to also having a wedding to pay for) but following that, I'm aiming for £700 per month.0 -
Congrats on hitting your target for the beginning of the year hostie. Is that your overall target complete now? what are your next moves? Increase your target or start searching?DFD: 23/12/20100

Well done to all those who made their end of year targets, and to all those who didn't quite get there but tried their best.
My savings are updated for the new year, even though my savings target date is the end of Sept (as that was when I first began saving a few years ago!), I've nearly reached my 1st savings target (I find it easier this way as it keeps me motivated) I still have 6% to save in the next 9 months.
It's going to be hard since my income reduced last August, but hopefully it's still going to be achievable.
Also, will need to re-evaluate in September when I finish Uni - but if all goes to plan I will have a job in place for when I finish and I won't need to dip into the savings for living expenses and I will still be on target!0 -
Hi all, I'd like to join if I may?
I think my sig tells you about my progress, but a few more details....
I became debt-free in December 2009 after around 21 years of money worries, and immediately started saving. Since then I have moved in with my partner in his father's house....married him (my partner, not his father)...and given up smoking
Nothing like trying everything all at once
Therefore our savings took a bit of a hit for our wedding in August last year, but now we're back on the wagon. At the moment I am putting between £500 and £900pm away, and my DH £500pm. He has a loan that he finishes paying in March so his contribution will then hopefully rise to around £700pm. We are trying to save at least £50k by the end of 2013, as the house prices in our area are stupid and we'd like to buy something that we can stay in for a while and we're not planning on having children.
My personal savings are in my sig, but jointly we currently have £9,090.11/£50,000
