How much are you all managing to save a month? I always thought I did quite well on the savings front, but wow, you guys have put me too shame - going to take FOREVER to save for a deposit at this rate!

I've just had Laser eye surgery, which set me back £2.5k in my target but well worth it :) Got only a year to save a few extra £k's to reach my target :D

What's your target to put away ms_London? I'm trying to keep it £800 a month( As thats what I can invest max in my savings account), but it will be going down soon as I reduce hours due to Uni :D

Have a look at where you save money Ms_London? Do you need to mobile contract, do you need a car. Look at what you need and want you want :D

  • That's me at 79% now and it's pay day next week so I'm still on track for my target date. The closer it gets the more scared I get, if that makes any sense? The idea of taking the plunge and buying a house is petrifying!!

Whilst I don't wish to be nosey, saving for a deposit of only £15k is very low and including fees with the transaction ect, this won't stretch far or the mortage rate will be very poor? I'm trying to aim for min 20% deposit as 10% rates are very poor

    :) Good Luck x

I agree 15k wont get you far unless you go for a mortgage witha very poor rate on a very cheap house.

I am aiming for 30k by 30th September 2012. Hopefully my girlfriend will have 10k by then (and have finished her teacher training) which will put us at 40k in total for deposit and fee's :)

It's more than enough when you live out of the madness known as London/English house prices  £90,000 will get you 2/3 bed house in a nice area where I am.

You are very lucky :D. £15K would barely pay for a deposit on a beach hut in my neck of the woods.

My deposit has taken a bit of a knock these last few months as our monthly income has dropped by around £700, and my DS1 is off to Uni tomorrow, so we've had to pay for bits and pieces for him.

On the plus side we'll have one less mouth to feed for the next 3 years
