Congratulations Rocketchimp that's great news :j
OH and I worked out our figures properly last night and realised that we really need something more like £60k for a deposit. At the moment it feels like a huge challenge but I guess we just need to attack it bit by bit and think of the lovely house at the end of it . At the moment we have around £26k so with a new target of £60 we're at about 42% of our goal.
Good luck everyone!Mortgage as at March 2010 £225,000 target for December 2012 £170,000. Blog link http://beautifulorpractical.blogspot.com/2010/07/oh-this-is-all-new.html :j0 -
Hi there:hello:
Please can I join in?
We're still thinking about taking the property plunge but a bit of moral support when saving is always good.
DH and I currently have 11k saved and are trying to put 800 a month away - easier some months than others - I hit the big 30 next month and i think it may be a bit of an expensive one...
The properties we are looking at vary between 114k and 135k so we're just trying to save as much as possible. The better deals don't really kick in until you have 25% deposit which for is is between 28.5k and 32.5k so we've a long way to go until then:( I think 10-15% will be more realistic as if we can't manage to buy next year we will rent somewhere bigger and wait so we can get on with starting a family.

Well another £250 to my savings today and this weekend's viewers want to have a second look at my flat today so all is right with the world.
I confirmed with my mortgage company that my current deposit would be enough to get a mortgage for some of the places I'm looking at but obviously the more the merrier. I've also found out that I can get an interest free loan from work which'll cover fees etc so all my savings can be counted as deposit.
Is anyone else a little sad that whilst we'll be able to afford a lovely new house, once we get one our savings'll be all gone and we'll have to start again - or is that just me. Think I'm really developing a saving bug!0
