Right iv finally got round to it. My ISA is empty and at zero, im on holiday for 3 weeks so itl be a while before i can add to it again and im away to Greece on Sunday, right now im 18 so have time on my side. Iv seen a good few people on here with £20k or so at 22. I have alot of respect for this and this is what i would like to achieve. If i move in with the gf i think £10k will be more than enough but iv started saving with the intention of moving out on my own, so a target of £20k.
£50 out of £20,000, only £19,950 to go, watch this space!Work in progress...Update coming July 2012.

Hello,
My update
I've reached 34k and have seen a beautiful 2 bed flat. It needs decorating, but has so much potential. It's on at 120k (SE prices) and my boyfriend and I really like it. So far so good, except I'm terrified, we both are. I have worked so hard to save this deposit and am terrified of making a mistake (my deposit and just me on the mortgage). I keep thinking over and over the same things in my mind, we want to live together, don't think we can live with our parents for another couple of years, so maybe it's the right time, or I could lose all I have worked for and I know it sounds silly but I have got used to knowing that I have money in the bank behind me should I need it and it's going to be very hard to give it up. I guess I didn't think I'd find somewhere I liked that quickly, I thought I'd really start looking early next year, but we really like this place.0 -

Hi, I just texted my landlord and didn't make a big thing of it. More like i'm thinking of looking after a couple of children at home, do you mind? Etc. Then i'm in the process of writing a permissions letter from him - i'm sending it with an SAE so it's easy. When I asked my LA they said to if the landlord is being difficult then tell him you may have to move and that normally changes their minds!
I hope that helps.

Also- tell your landlord you will get public liability insurance- you have to in order to childmind anyway and this fully covers you in case of an injury to you, the child and your contents has to know you're running a business from home and you are protected there. It's your responsibility not the landlords, he is not liable. If you phone surestart they should be able to tell you this- also i'm sure Ofsted will be able to verify this- if you phone them (Ofsted) on 08456404040 then ask to talk to someone about childminding, then get their name and ask them if they can tell your landlord to ease his mind- then he's got NO reason to stop you if that's his only complaint!
Let me know how you go and good luck!

To be honest it looks like a tiny shoebox. I don't see the point buying such a place (unless you're an investor buying it to let out).
That's exactly the type of place I would rent, or possibly even BTL one day, but would never buy to live in.
When you're ready to move to a bigger place (and face it, that thing doesn't take much outgrowing!) I imagine you could have a real hard time shifting it.0 -
Possibly the last grand total that I will want to post for some years. We now have approx £66,000 between us. Within the next few weeks that will drastically reduce when we put our deposit down though!!0
