Looks good. I do think the self build is so appealing but I've struggled to find a plot in a place I'd like
Also think I'd be one of those stoopid grand designs peeps who forget something important and end up paying loads more money than planned :rotfl:Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

Plot is the hardest part I think, one thing I have noticed is there is very little difference in plot costs between the good and the slightly dodgy areas, just the good areas don't come up as much.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I agree and some of the things they release as plots - barely room to swing a cat let alone build a house.
This one came up today but its further away from work than I wanted.Looking for the perfect home and saving to make becoming a MFW easier

The mortgage advisor at countrywide has a list of recommended solicitors etc but i think we are going to research our own etc first!
Also, we have a mortgage agreement in principle with Halifax - do we Have to have our mortgage with them? Just thinking if there is a better deal on at the moment with someone else? We have 10% deposit x
Good luck with the savings everyone xxxDFW Total £21,800 to clear by Dec 2022

Congratulations happytails!
Got paid yesterday and have saved another £500 towards my deposit fund. I am only £2k (4 months worth of saving) away from my original target but because of the poor mortgage deals etc I might set myself a new target!
Got a separate savings account for the fees/moving costs which is also coming along nicely.
Well done to everyone on here and just remember, the more you put down, the less you have to pay backSaving for a deposit: £20,551 / £25,000 - 82% of the way there...0 -
:j Congratulations Happytails :j
Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly for you.
I haven't posted much as there's not been much to report. The savings are going slow, mainly due to having had 2 birthdays within 3 weeks of each other (DD was last month and DS2 is on Tuesday) and we've just had a small party for them with bowling and McDs, so my purse is £50 lighter tonight , there were only 9 children in total, any more would have been too much to handle :rotfl:.
One of my savings accounts matured this week and I managed to get £34 interest, I'm quite pleased with that as I thought it would be a lot less with the rates dropping. We're up to nearly 30% of our first goal, which will be around 20% of the asking price, but because our wages aren't great we want to save as much as we can to get a better mortgage deal.Mortgage: Was: £154,495 Oct 2039 Now: £82,340.34 May 2037Swagbucks ~ £155 (2024 ~ £395)Surveys ~ £153.19 (2024 ~ £280.14)Make £2025 in 2025 #5 ~ £964.62 ~ (2024 ~ £2,561.04)0 -
Hey all, good to see everyones doing so well.
Added another £200 to my savings. seems to be going so slow as i can't save a huge amount each month.
Still waiting for a refund and debt to be paid to me which will go straight to the fund, will hopefully get them by the end of july and it will take me to the £2000 mark.
This is the most i've ever had saved though, so am fairly pleased with myself and as long as it's going upwards thats good.
Congrats Palema, nearly at 10% is great. Waiting to hear on a job which if i get it should put me at that mark too.
Keep up the good work everyone :jSave £12K in 2019 #: £0.00 / £10,000 (0%)
