WE were thinking to put an offer in for £85k anonymously and then re put in our offer of £90k? doubt that would work but we really want this house

Yeah I think they would mention who put it in, if you're that stressed over it is it worth the 3k? What do you think? It's always darkest before the dawn.

I think it is, but my OH is paying for it so its ultimately his decision and he wants to offer £90,475 tomorrow.
I was thinking meet half way between our offfer and the asking price and go for £91,500 and ask for the dining table to be left with the house. Got to convince my oh now

Hi
I have been patient for some time in trying to buy a housing association flat which I currently live in. I am managing, with a struggle, to save £350 per month, and need to save a minimum of 5k to go ahead. I am thinking of different ways of adding to this, including cancelling the gym for a while (£50 a month) and stopping my company pension payments for a while, say 4-5 months, of £100 per month giving me £80 per month net back in my salary. This means I miss the company's contributions of £200 per month, but I'm so fed up of waiting to buy the flat, and want to be able to go ahead by the end of the year. Is this a silly idea? The pension is losing money slightly but obviously considering employer contributions I am gaining. What do people think, as a temporary help, would it be silly in the long term not to have the pension, ie sillier than not to buy a flat and keep on and on renting for even longer (been doing it all my working life - 15 years). Thanks0 -

Hi Eager learner,
In similar position to the one you mentioned- good deposit saved -over 25% and we have looked at approx 15 houses since Christmas- nearly bought one then all fell through, best offer rejected on next one we liked and now almost nothing to look at in our price range and nothing has come on the market for several weeks. House prices aren't dropping anymore either- they're creeping up much to my horror!
Feel like banninng myself from rightmove for 2 months to see if things look differenet as i'm bored of looking at the same tired selection
Good luck with it all people- im still hanging on for a further fall of 10%- hope Im right!
Same here - getting bored now as sellers in my mind are being unrealistic and refusing reasonable offers, which they should be accepting as we get closer to summer hols / kids being off etc etc which all adds to buyers and sellers being less interested in buying and selling property.
One property on for £189 won't have us look because they know we want to stay under stamp duty. That's ok though as we're not that desperate, we will just wait for their callMFW #185

Well we offered the asking price on a property well worth it in our opinion and someone swooped in with a higher offer than the asking price, we refused to take it any higher - this is a bit ridiculous!
Off to view yet more properties! the slog continues.....DFW Total £21,800 to clear by Dec 2022

Are you sure that the EA isn't taking you for a ride? You've upped your offer twice already... maybe they're just trying to see how far they can milk you? (maybe they've identified you on this thread and know how much you really want it even?)
If they call you in a week or two to see if still interested as the "over asking price buyer" has dropped out, I'd say it's a dead cert they've been deceiving you.
edit: what's the rush?0 -
I was staggered to get an email last night off Rightmove off all places saying prices are falling again. They've always been blindingly positive about recovery even in the face of all evidence to the contrary!
A great house dropped its price yesterday near us, 1930s large 3 bed detached with a 100m rear garden and 80 m front garden/drive/double garage area. Partially done out, then partially needs a lot of work, big gap down the side to extend into and no neighbours on that side to overshadow/overlook. We'd be very, very tempted if we had a deposit! Love propertybee, tells me it was put on the market in Feb, yesterday was the first price drop, from 190k to 179k.
Another £515 into savings yesterday, and excitingly we were approved for a HSBC joint current account yesterday too, so £50 cashback, plus access to the 8% regular savers. Although I hear rumours these close this month, so I'm going to the bank at lunchtime to see if I can open them.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
