Jobseekers Allowance And A Pension

I took early retirement (aged 59) last October and now I am looking for part time employment.
I recieve a Final Salary Pension from my past employer, the question is can I claim a Jobseekers Allowance while I look for a part time job.

You can claim but you are unlikely to get any money assuming that your pension is above the JSA allowance. Best you can hope for is a credit for the NIC. It is still worth registering though as sometimes the fact you are on JSA can save a penny or two elsewhere. For example sometimes cheap cinema tickets are sometimes available to JSA claimants. Prescription dispensation only applies if it is JSA income based but these are free from age 60.
