Gift baskets & boxes

Hi all, this is my first post, but have been reading MSE for ages.i have seen some peeps on MSe who make up gift boxes/ baskets for friends etc.Is there anyone out there who makes them to sell at bootfairs, through local shops etc?? Is it a viable income oportunity?
Am looking for extra income, and, more importantly, for something to do during the day as I only work a few hours a week in the evening.Due to family problems I had to give up a brill job 2 yrs ago & have been pretty fed up as I am on my own all week; children at school/uni. OH in a fab new job[ lucky him]
Hope I don't sound as if I am moaning, but I haven't told anyone how I feel.
Still, hopefully one day I'll be like my user name!!
Thanks for reading this tale of woe!!!

  • What a great idea :) I say go for it. Having a wee look on ebay shows that some people do manage this quite successfully. Think I might even join you! :)
  • Thanks for the reply, which catogery do they come under on ebay??

    Hi staff_lighten.gif
thats a fab idea! theres a thread dedicated to gift baskets on here somewhere you'd probably get a lot of advice/ideas there

if you do a search for gift baskets in ebay a lot come up
  • The thing with Ebay is the postage of the goods.... you have the items all displayed perfectly but when they are in transit they may move about all over the place... your best option is to maybe get a few flyers printed offering your baskets and boxes with a 10% discount for new customers and drop them in through doors and local businesses, then you can personally deliver the hampers in your local area to buyers or recipients.
  • I have thought about doing this too after seeing some sellers on Ebay doing it. Agree with princesspoppypop though, that they will be expensive to ship and might end up looking a bit messy after a while. The gift basket thread is here... http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=309335
