Also just occurred to me that in terms of these ISA offsets, I am pretty sure that they will probably not allow you to "transfer in", so you are effectively starting with one years contributions, 3k / 3.6k 08-09. So no good thinking I have 20k odd in ISA savings with another provider and could stick this in the ISA offset part. It seems to me that is probably better to take the cheapest fixed offset (eg first direct) with some offset savings and then keep the ISA as a separate entity hopefully tied up in a good consistent rate payer. Most of my savings are in Cash ISA's so I am just trying to see how the numbers stack up and see if there is a workaround without withdrawing from the ISA's it all possible.
On a separate note, with mortages that have extended redemption penalties, do you know if you are able to go interest only for that period without incurring the penalties (and in the meantime trying your best to make the "saving" work)0
